I learned about the inextricable connection between joy and gratitude, and how things that I take for granted, like rest and play, are as vital to our health as nutrition and exercise. ~Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

Those things you’ve given up this week for the needful, the urgent, this must be done or else? May you be gracious to yourself, pick up that book or magazine lying at the bottom of the stack and savor the turn of each page. Stay in your pajamas past noon or slip on your running shoes and let go of the agenda. Loving yourself may look like choosing more than one cookie from the plate or saying, “No thank you.” Whatever it takes, say yes to loving yourself and remember rest isn’t extracurricular, it’s the main course. Choose wisely from the menu.

On Tuesday, October 1st, I’m hosting a series based on The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown where I plan to unpack what loving yourself looks like practically. We’ll be diving into the deep end of wholehearted living. Join me forRedemptions Beauty Book Club and here in the comments? I would be honored to have your input.
