I sit in early morning incandescence, bible splayed on knees of last night’s dreams. The chatter of blue jays above harmonize with the dance of shifting leaves by curious cardinals below. I’m waiting to hear the whisper.

Under this canopy of collective choir, I am reminded that communion doesn’t only happen when the table is set with fine china and sparkling silver. It happens when the house is strewn with living and a neighbor shows up with a casserole you weren’t expecting.

He often shows up like snow in the middle of summer. Listen.
